Mengxi Wang
Documentary Filmmaker|Photographer|Storyteller
I’m Mengxi Wang, a documentary filmmaker, photographer, and writer based between New York and Tokyo.
My work centers on themes of migration, memory, and the architecture of everyday life. I’m drawn to stories that are often overlooked—silent moments, unnoticed street conversations, and voices lingering at the margins.
Having spent six years as a news reporter for a television station, I developed a deep curiosity for the individual stories woven into daily life. I’m drawn to narrative storytelling through dialogue, favoring dramatic plots in a direct film style.
Currently, I continue to work with Chinatown as a cultural symbol—a lens through which to explore immigrant life and spatial memory.
